Above the Fold - Touring the internets

No theme in "Above the Fold" today, just some recent Detroit blogosphere links I found interesting...

Need 4 Sheed has great video of 'Sheed's favorite "Gangsta," new big man Primoz Brezec, diving into the Pistons bench for a loose ball. The sight of watching Pistons scatter, desperately trying to avoid becoming Brezrc road kill, is hysterical!

Lionbacker
gives out the Detroit Lions final grades. As you might expect, they ain't pretty. If the Lions were in elementary school, they'd be held back, or sent to special ed.

Gregg Henson passes along the news that former WDFN morning man, Greg Brady, has scored a new sports talk gig co-hosting an afternoon drive time show in Toronto. Cheap Channel's, and Detroit's, loss is Toronto's gain. Brady was one of the few Detroit sports talk hosts who could, and would, intelligently discuss hockey on a regular basis.

Motown Sports Revival has a 3 for the price of 1 post. Breaking down the Wolverines game plan against Florida, the '07-'08 Pistons resemblance to their 2004 title winners, and thoughts on the Lions giving Mike Martz the ziggy.

The Daily Fungo
points out the inconsistencies regarding Alan Trammell's hall of fame candidacy, and why some voters leave the (In my mind) should be HOF member Tiger off their ballots. Such as a voter claiming the long infield grass at Tiger Stadium should be held against Tram. HOF voters = Clueless.

Bless You Boys lets us know that Tigers catcher Vance Wilson's recovery from Tommy John surgery is progressing nicely. I sure hope so, considering he's the only catcher capable of backing up Pudge Rodriguez in the entire Tigers system. With the trade of Mike Rabelo, it's Vance Wilson or bust if something happens to Pudge.

A couple of newer blogs covering the college side of things need to be pointed out. There's a new Wolverines blog, UMHoops, that obviously covers (mostly ignored) Michigan basketball. There's also a new Sparty blogger on the block (one of the very few), Spartan Weblog. Welcome to the Detroit blogosphere, folks! I'm glad someone is able to talk college hoops. With no Big 10 Network available to me, and I'm sure that goes for most of you as well, I've seen very little of the Wolverines or Spartans cagers this season.

That's "Above the Fold" for Friday, 1-4-07!

  1. Thanks for the shout out for the Spartans Weblog. I'm enjoying the blogging and hoping the site can be a gathering place for fans interested in in-depth analysis of MSU basketball.

And I'm glad a comparable UM hoops blog has popped up, too. The MSU-UM basketball rivalry could finally become something big in the next few years.
